RFU announce move to Stage D

RFU announce move to Stage D

The RFU yesterday announced that the phased return of community rugby can move from Stage C to Stage D from Tuesday 1st September. Stage D means that we are able to start limited and restricted contact rugby training and organise inter-club non-contact fixtures. The reinstatement of some contact activity is important to ensure players can continue to practice core skills and can start to prepare as the game starts to return to normality with regular training and matches.

The club and all our coaches are working hard to ensure that these changes can be incorporated into training plans whilst ensuring that we continue to follow government Covid-19 guidance.

We are taking part in the NatWest RugbyForce 2020 on the 5 September. This is a nationwide programme developed in partnership with NatWest and England Rugby which provides an opportunity for rugby clubs up and down the country to open their doors to their local communities, team members and volunteers to help make some improvements around the club to ensure they are ready for a return to rugby. Our men, women, and junior players will be taking part, and we hope some willing volunteers, to help with a list of jobs that we have put together to ensure that the club is looking at its best. If you would like to join our players and volunteer for a few hours then just send us a message through Facebook. We will be meeting at 10.00am on Saturday 5th September – Bar will be open from 12.00 and there will be a BBQ for all those involved.

Our players are loving our new fitness training!

Since the introduction of the RFU Return to Rugby programme, some of our teams have been able to take part in some fitness training, which has been put together by our Coaches.  We’ve had our Under 11, Under 14, Under 15, Under 16 and Under 17’s taking part, and it’s proved to be incredibly popular.   Our youngsters have really got into the spirit and have been brilliant at social distancing and sticking to the rules.

In the coming weeks, we are hoping to introduce more of our youngsters with the Girls Under 13, 15, and 18’s due to start soon.

We continue to remain at Stage B of the RFU Return to Rugby programme.
