Tewkesbury tigers under 12’s hosted a big strong looking Stroud team on a cold but bright, dry Sunday morning.
1st 20 mins.
Tewkesbury lost the toss and Stroud opted to receive the ball from kick off. From the off both teams competed at the break downs well and once won both teams tried to ship the ball out wide. Tewkesbury were the first to break the dead lock whgen they shipped down the line for the winger to dive in low for the first try. Stroud how ever capitalised on a mistake from kick off by Tewkesbury to even the score 5-5. It was now Tewkesbury’s turn to pressure Stroud and with the forwards going over to make it 10-5 to Tewkesbury. Stroud again responded well and managed to go over to even the score again 10-10. Great strong competition by both teams all square at the end of the period.
2nd 20 mins.
Stroud to kick off and once again Tewkesbury failed to catch the ball Stroud took advantage and the lead 15-10. Tewkesbury rallied there troops and with some good inter play pressured Stroud into making a rash pass which a Tewkesbury player read to run in an intercept try 15-15. The game then went backwards and forwards as both teams looked to take the lead, Stroud capitalised on some space out wide as the Tewkesbury players had been sucked into a ruck to take the lead again session ended 20-15 to Stroud.
3rd 20 mins.
Tewkesbury now under pressure turned on the charm and as Strouds big lads started to tier they took advantage and pressured Stroud and ran at them at every chance 1-2-3-4-5 tries to the good with Stroud managing just the one 40-25 at the end.
I’d like to congratulate both sets of forwards with there line out work and scrummaging which was exceptional and very disciplined. Also both sets of backs which showed some great handling and running lines well done to both teams.
Players to mention :-
Mason again with his line out throwing in and hooking.
Harvey aggressive around the field 100% given.
Ben never stopped running and trying .
Brendan always a fret in open play .
William always on hand to finish off moves .

On a cloudy day Tewkesbury under 12’s played host to their nearest club Bredon .
1st 20 mins.
Tewkesbury started well dominating the scrums and break downs while Bredan had a slight upper hand in the backs . Because of this Tewkesbury opened the scoring with Sam Williams crossing the line for the opening try . Bredan how every responded straight away with some good passing down the line to score virtually from kick off catching Tewkesbury napping . Tewkesbury then responded through again the forwards and Joe Goodridge powering over to make the score 10-5 .
2nd 20 mins.
a few changes in the Tewkesbury side gave Bredan the upper hand and they took full advantage of this by running the ball at every opportunity putting Tewkesbury on the back foot . this eventually paid off when they crossed the line for a try then again before the period finished 15-10 to Bredan .
3rd 20 mins.
Tewkesbury again made changes to the good and the forwards took control and battled on down the field to force a scrum 5 meters out this gave Ellis Todd the chance to pick and go from the base to cross the line for his try 15-15 . Ellis was taken off at this point due to a knock . Tewkesbury had to re-shuffle and Bredan again took advantage of this and through some slick passing crossed the line again . The game now tense got good as Bredan pressured Tewkesbury and again crossed the line as some players started falling off tackles . this was’nt the end as Tewkesbury battled on for Charlie Kendrick to take advantage of a great drive by the forwards and pick and drive over the line . Unfortunately Tewkesbury ran out off time and Bredan came away as winners 25-20
Players to mention .
Sam Williams .
Joe Goodridge .
Harvey Maycock
Charlie Kendrick

On a sunny morning Tewkesbury tigers under 12’s hosted Cinderford.
This was going to be a great contest as there were several players unavailable for selection . But fortunately Tewkesbury has strength in depth.
First half saw Cinderford have the better start to the game dominating the scrums and break down areas, this was expected as Cinderford are a big physical team that wont and dont take a step backwards so Tewkesbury would have to fight for every ball. To be honest Cinderford’s domination paid off has their forwards drove up the field to cross the line for their first try. This however seemed to wake Tewkesbury up and they replied with some good passing down the line to cross the line themselves 7-7 both tries converted. Cinderford however were in no mood to let Tewkesbury get into their flow and under pressure after a good kick by Cinderford, Tewkesbury conceded another try which also was converted 7-14 . Tewkesbury after some harsh words by their coach started to pressure Cinderford and this paid off with an unconverted try 12-14. Tewkesbury now had their tails up and managed again to cross the line for a converted try 19-14 . Cinderford dominated the scrums and break downs but tewkesbury always looked dangerous in open play. half ended 19-14 .
2nd half started the same both teams fighting for dominance but with Cinderfords big forwards were slowly tiring and Tewkesbury’s backs started to find more space to run into this enabled them to score first, conversion missed 24-14 . Cinderford then dragged Tewkesbury into a forwards battle and the game got messy but Tewkesbury battled on and went over for 2 more tries one converted and one not final score 36-14 . The score does not reflect how well Cinderford played but does highlight how well Tewkesbury can play when given space on the ball.
Players to mention –
Tyler – great in the break downs and won loads of ball.
Brendan – great lines of running always a threat.
Ben Peters always in support, rewarded with a try.
Charlie Kendrick great controlled lovely kick offs.
Henry and Sean in the center great partnership, aggressive and aware of the space lovely hands.
