Tewkesbury Tigers has over 190 boys and girls, between the ages of 6 (year 2) through to 17/18 years of age, playing rugby every weekend during the season, with some of the older children taking part in midweek training sessions as well. Each team has its own dedicated team of coaches, which will follow them through their rugby journey. This approach leads to strong leadership and great teamwork between players and coaches. All our coaches are DBS checked and regularly take part in Gloucestershire RFU and England RFU training courses to further develop their knowledge and increase awareness of the game’s key safety elements. Tewkesbury Tigers, are affiliated to Tewkesbury RFC an accredited England RFU and Gloucestershire RFU club and therefore operate within the RFU’s age-grade rugby programme which ensures overarching player safety and wellbeing, as well as putting player welfare at the heart of the game to ensure that rugby is as safe as possible.
Our season runs from the first Sunday in September to the start of May and culminates in our annual presentation day, which is the highlight of the season where players are recognised for their achievements over the past year.
Tewkesbury Tigers is not all about playing rugby as we also offer social events such as Christmas and Halloween parties, and Discos’ in our clubhouse, The Moats. The Moats is also a great venue to hire if you’re looking for somewhere to hold a business or family event.
When your child or children join Tewkesbury Tigers they will need to be registered to play on the RFU Game Management System before they can play rugby. All existing players must be re-registered by the start of the new season. Playing rugby for Tewkesbury Tigers automatically entitles parents/guardians to receive two social memberships of the club which allows you to use the facilities. What happens if I join from another club?
GMS has been developed by the RFU to track a player’s rugby journey from the day they start playing rugby to the day they retire. Each player will have one unique record within GMS that will follow their career. Players that are already playing at a Rugby Club and subsequently move to Tewkesbury Tigers can be transferred on GMS from the old club by us. A new player profile does not need to be created if you already have an existing RFU unique ID on the GMS system. Please contact us for further details
What happens if I leave the club?
If you decide to leave Tewkesbury Tigers to move to another club or have decided rugby is no longer for you please make sure that before you move to a new club you contact the registrar of your new club who will help to organise the transfer on GMS.
