Last Friday the under 12’s finally got back to action by gratefully hosting Upton RFC.
Upton looked strong with 6 games under their belt this season but our tigers started fast out of the gate. In the first third an early break away try from Rhys Clingan gave Tewkesbury the lead.
Upton however soon found their feet towards the end of the third and forced through 2 unanswered try’s to finish the 15.
The 2nd saw some excellent rugby from both sides and Upton had the upper hand throughout, but a determined and strong defensive display from Tewkesbury and a little craziness from Fin Capper kept the scoring to an additional 2 for Upton.
The final third was the highlight for Tewkesbury where the kids found their Rhythm and managed to score 4 in quick succession with some excellent hand skills and strong forward running. One try a piece from Mckenzie Fry and Will Barber gave us the push needed and a noted piece of grit and skill for Dillon Clarke brought in a storming try towards the end, finally a piece of magic by Mali Turner running from the 9 channel and scoring before the final whistle.
For both teams the level of rugby was exemplary,
With defensive man of the match performances from Mckenzie and Fin and attacking man of the match’s from Rhys Clingan and Jack Stringer our boys will take a well deserved break and we all look forward to the start of a new and hopefully normal season in September.
Massive thank you to Upton again for joining us on a fine Friday evening, we look forward to the away fixture.
Special thanks also to Tracy Pound from The Pig Roasting Company for providing after match hot dogs 🌭
